Equity Line Indicator for MetaTrader/cTrader

Equity Line is a Forex indicator that calculates the projected future equity at the given price level based on all open positions in the current symbol and displays it near that price line. The indicator is available for MT4, MT5, and cTrader.

You can press Shift+E on your keyboard to hide or show the equity line and the projected equity value. You can customize the indicator via its input parameters.

You can choose its refresh frequency and also the line's style and color.

Why use Equity Line indicator?

It is difficult to tell what your account equity will be when the trading instrument you have positions in reaches some other price level. With Equity Line indicator, you will know what your expected equity is at any price level you select. Some notable use cases are listed below:

• Planning future scale-ins.
• Checking if you will have enough equity if price goes against you.
• Setting up stop-loss and take-profit exits.

The indicator calculates to net volume of all your positions on the current symbol and then it calculates the profit or loss that will be added to your current equity if the price goes from its current level to the where you placed the horizontal line. The resulting future equity, along with the floating profit/loss expected at the given price, is displayed directly above the horizontal line.

If the change is equity is positive, it is displayed in green; if the expected change is negative, it is shown in red.

You can then use the future equity value to better plan your trading or adjust your approach to risk management.

Example

The example XAG/USD (Silver) chart below shows the Equity Line indicator running in MetaTrader 4 with two open long trades. The indicator shows the projected account equity (3,289.26) and floating loss from these two positions (-354.50) should the price reach 40.731.
