Am I right that because there's no central clearing house and the market lacks extensive regulation, I don't have to worry about the whole "limit down" thing that we find in other markets, right?
Some governments may impose a limit on their currency movement. For example, the People's Bank of China is limiting the maximum daily price change of the Chinese yuan.
Same with Mx Peso. The first 8 years here, the Peso was stable at 10:1. Easy conversion. Now, the Peso hovers around an avg. of 13.4:1. This has been for the last 3 years now.
Looking at what the Japanese and Swiss Central Banks have done over the past few months, one realizes that there might be no 'official' down-limiting but that range-controlling isn't all that uncommon in forex either.
