Newbie here! When to switch from demo to real accounts?

I feel when you've tested out multiple strategies and you have understood how they would perform in real trading, you can switch to the live account. But don't close the demo account right away, keep it open to test out more strategies.

So True! Which strategy worked best during your demo trading?
While demo trading, sticking to the supply and demand level worked best for me. I used to combine those with volume analysis and EMA 20/50 for confirmation. It wasn’t perfect but at the initial stages it used to help me understand the price movements without overcomplicating things.

Good approach- Are you still use the same strategy or you have tweaked it over time?

The right time to switch from demo to real trading depends on your confidence and consistency. Start small with a real account, maybe 1-2% risk per trade, and scale up as you gain experience.

The new traders should at least trade a demo account for more than six months before going to trade on live account and while starting a live i guess always start with small amount.

100% agree! Six months on a demo builds skills & confidence.

Demo trading is great for learning, but don’t stay there forever. Trade demo until you're consistent, then switch to real. that’s where the real lessons start.

These demo accounts also helps us evaluate any broker's processes we are trading because the demo account works similar to their live accounts. So we can test the broker processes without even depositing any money with them in start.

Hey guys!

I am relatively new to forex trading. So far I have only studied information available in the internet so to make sure i understand the basics before diving in...

My question here is... When is the right time to switch from demo to real accounts? I mean can you really be confident that your demo strategy will work on the real thing?
Thank you!

Switching from demo to real accounts depends on your confidence and understanding of key concepts like pip value, tick value, and how pending orders work. It’s essential to familiarize yourself with the market's operations and take advantage of different trading strategies. Also, following high and medium-impact news releases is crucial, as it helps you understand market flow and makes you better prepared for key events that could shift the market.

Keep in mind that geopolitical events, especially surprise news, can be unpredictable. For example, in March 2021, oil prices spiked after concerns that a giant container ship blocking the Suez Canal could disrupt crude and refined product supplies. This type of news can be volatile, especially if it happens over the weekend.

I'm kinda wondering the same, tbh. Been on demo for a bit, but not sure when it's "safe" to go live. Feels way different when it’s real cash, right?

Hello everyone, I’m still quite new, and one thing that really helped me understand when to switch from demo to real was advice from mentors in the course I’m following at Trade School. They emphasize that the switch should happen only after you consistently trade profitably on demo and feel confident controlling your emotions. It’s not about hitting a specific number or time, but about discipline and readiness. They also stress that rushing into a real account too soon can lead to unnecessary losses and frustration. So, I’m taking my time, focusing on learning and sticking to my plan before going live. Hope this helps someone!
