IMO, Regulated STP/ECN NDD brokers are best. Just try to stick with those.

It is very easy to distinguish between a market maker and a simple STP broker. STP brokers commonly charge a commission per trade. For example, my broker charges 0.3pips for each deal you make and that is all. While a market maker creates its own spread and charge traders by it. There are also other features that can help you distinguish between these two types brokers.
