On April 1, has released a stable beta of MT5 with hedging capability - Build 1295. The first release of MetaTrader 5 with hedged positions was on March 18, but MetaQuotes did not make any official announcement about it and the release lacked some important fixes and features. The latest build is full of good things for traders and developers alike:

  • It is now possible to choose hedging or netting account when opening a demo account. There will be no FIFO limitation if hedging account is used.
  • Demo account opening dialog is much simpler now.
  • Automatic demo account opening if platform has no accounts set.
  • Positions now have tickets (like orders do).
  • You can now backtest expert advisors and indicators on real ticks history.
  • Added chat with your MQL5.com contacts and messages.
  • Fixed various display bugs.
  • User interface is now available also in Malay language.
  • New improved user manual.
  • Added abstract classes and pure virtual functions to MQL5 language.
  • Added pointers to functions in MQL5 language.
  • Added new functions, enums, properties, and values to work with hedged positions in MQL5.
  • Added TERMINAL_SCREEN_DPI value to ENUM_TERMINAL_INFO_INTEGER to get the dots per inch resolution of the terminal's display.
  • Added TERMINAL_PING_LAST value to ENUM_TERMINAL_INFO_INTEGER to get the time in microseconds from the latest ping to the trading server.
  • Fixed a bug with SendFTP() that would result in false return value instead of true on successful sending.
  • Fixed a bug with StringConcatenate() function that resulted in memory access error.
  • Print(), Alert(), and Comment() now can display strings longer than 4,000 characters.
  • MQL5 Standard Library now supports position hedging system.
  • Fixed errors in Standard Library.
  • Fixed some errors in Market display.
  • Fixed various bugs in the Strategy Tester.
  • Optimized visual testing, profit/margin calculation, and trading operations with large number of orders.
  • Symbol history syncing in Strategy Tester now occurs only when it is necessary.
  • Fixed minor bugs in MetaEditor.
This MetaTrader 5 update is currently available only from your MetaQuotes demo servers. You would have to switch a server from your broker's demo to get this build and participate in the beta-test of MT5 with position locking. See this post by MetaQuotes for a complete list of changes.
