Learning to create EA> is it good?

Do you think as a trader, learning to make an ea would be more useful for me, or focusing more on my trading skills?

difficult question for me..... it might be better to focus on trading skills first....

coding ea's, indicators and scripts consumes much of my day...... and would not trade without them,...... but freely admit i'd long since starved if i would have learned to code effectively first....

both learning to trade and learning to code will take considerable time.... at least in my case.....h

EA's rarely work in the long term. Its a good hobby though.

Learning to create Expert Advisors can be beneficial for several reasons. Personally, delving into EA creation has given me a deeper understanding of algorithmic trading and allowed me to automate strategies. It provides more control over my trading, reduces emotional involvement, and allows for systematic testing and optimization. However, it requires time and effort to grasp coding and algorithmic concepts. If you enjoy both trading and programming, it's a valuable skill to acquire.

I think both go hand in hand to be honest. Understanding how to trade gives you the logic behind market moves, while learning to create or modify an EA helps you translate that logic into automation.

In my experience, building or testing EAs forces you to think more systematically, you start spotting weaknesses in your manual strategies and learn to define your rules more clearly. Even if the bot doesn’t perform perfectly, you still gain a deeper understanding of structure, entries, and risk control.

So I’d say: get solid with your trading skills first, then explore EAs as a way to refine and test those skills faster. That’s what I’ve been doing lately, experimenting with a few automated systems and it’s been a great learning process.

I think if we have a profitable strategy we can get it coded in any EA for taking our trading to automation level however since these EAs have requirements like VPS etc and also monitoring during the high volatile markets.

MAs/BBs aren’t truly “leading.” My best results came from RSI/Stoch divergence at HTF S/R, but I only act after structure breaks and a clean retest to filter the false signals

I think focusing on your trading skills is most beneficial and helpful.
It probably depends on your interests. If you have EA development skills and they're developing well, you might be able to elevate them as a freelancer.
I found learning to create EAs very difficult because I found writing code very complicated. So I am focused on developing a trading strategy.
