With some many retracements are the old style (sit back) trends effectively ended? My suspicious mind wonders the influences of the market makers scooping up retail traders.

Is trend trading dead?

No, trend trading is not dead. Trend trading is a strategy that involves identifying and capitalizing on the directional movement, or trends, of financial markets. While market conditions and investor preferences may evolve over time, trend trading remains a popular approach used by many traders and investors.
Trend trading relies on the belief that markets tend to move in trends, whether upward (bullish) or downward (bearish), and that these trends can persist for a certain period of time. Traders who follow this strategy aim to enter positions in the direction of the trend and ride the momentum until signs of a reversal or a change in the trend emerge.
It is important to note that no trading strategy is foolproof or guaranteed to be consistently profitable. Market dynamics can change, and trends can reverse unexpectedly, leading to losses for trend traders. Additionally, the effectiveness of trend trading can vary depending on the specific market or asset being traded.
Overall, trend trading continues to be a popular and relevant strategy in financial markets, but it's essential for traders to adapt their approach, stay informed about market conditions, and employ risk management techniques to navigate the inherent uncertainties involved in trading.

I don’t think trend trading is dead rather many traders around the globe are reaping profit through trend-based trading. Identifying trends is the prime strategy for a trader to identify where to trade and where not.

Trend trading is not dead. Markets still move in clear trends during certain periods, creating opportunities for disciplined traders. What changes is market behavior, with some phases becoming choppy or range-bound. Successful trend traders adapt their strategy, manage risk well, and stay patient until strong trends appear again.

I don’t think trend trading is dead. Markets still move in trends, though some periods are messy and harder to trade. It depends on market conditions and how a trader approaches them. I’d wait for a clear direction rather than force trades when price keeps moving sideways.

Agree that the trend never dead, just timeframe changes. 2025 chop on H1 is still clean trend on D1. Don't force, wait on sideways is where accounts die.

for real, watching short-term charts chop back and forth and hunt your stops can honestly make u feel like traditional trend trading is totally dead. back then i used to get tilted out of my mind by those constant retracements, till i finally realized the trend itself didn't vanish—we're just staring at too low a timeframe and mistaking normal noise for a reversal. once u zoom out on the higher timeframes, the big picture is usually crystal clear, and trying to force trades during choppy sideways action is just a fast track to blowing an account.

Trends aren’t dead, but the pullbacks definitely test your patience. stop clusters are real, but I think it’s more about adapting to market conditions than assuming market makers are hunting every retail trader.
