Auto-resize attached images to 'viewable' size

Title says it all. Automatically resize attached images to avoid left-right scrolling of too big images.
Not everybody (unfortunately) is image-editor expert (not that you need to be expert to resize image, but anyway).

The attached images' size is already restricted, but there is no way to restrict the externally hosted images. If you encounter some thread with the unbearably wide images - report it to the mods, so we could persuade the author to resize the images.
