Stop loss, good or bad?

It all depends what you are trading and your trading style but I would say a stop loss is vital for most people to avoid totally blowing your account.

I don’t see any disadvantage of SL unless setting is into a wrong place! SL is the best tool to protect traders trading capital.

For sure, SL should be in a right place, or it would cause additional losses. The level to place SL is as important, as initial entry level, but only few traders understand it.

Stop loss is generally good because it protects your capital by limiting losses automatically. It helps remove emotional decisions and enforces discipline. However, poorly placed stop losses can close trades too early during volatility. When used correctly with a clear strategy, it becomes an essential tool for consistent risk management.

I think stop losses are important, but they need to be placed carefully. Setting them too close can lead to exits from normal price fluctuations. Removing them completely can be risky, especially when the market moves quickly. I’d rather adjust my stop loss and position size than rely only on manual exits.

To me, using a stop-loss acts as a shield amidst dynamic market movements and uncertainty. However, managing position size is equally crucial to ensure risk tolerance remains within reasonable limits. On the other hand, some traders believe that stop-losses only lead to losses, preferring instead to rely on account resilience. Ultimately, the choice rests with the individual trader, as there are always pros and cons to using stop-losses.
