Do You Think Market Intuition is Trainable or Just Talent?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how some traders seem to “just know” when to stay out of the market or when a setup feels wrong even if all the indicators line up. It’s like a gut feeling, and it turns out right more often than not.

Do you think this kind of market intuition can be developed over time through screen time and pattern recognition? Or is it something only a few people just have naturally? I’ve been trading for about 3 years and sometimes feel like I’m still over-relying on indicators and not enough on instinct. Curious what others think especially those with 10+ years in the game. Is there a turning point where it just starts to click?

Would love to hear from discretionary traders and system traders alike

they say intuition can be learned so most likely it can be improved/developed......

they also say of the two personality types, sensors vs intuitives, sensors are 75% of the total...... so maybe only a few people are intuitive naturally.....

for sure, some of us must stare to see what other see in a glance.....

no harm in that......h

It’s a bit of both. You can definitely train yourself to read the vibes but a little natural flair helps. So yeah, practice sharpens the gut feeling.

Yeah, I think that gut feeling comes with time. The more you watch the charts, the more you start picking up on stuff that indicators don’t show. It’s not something you’re born with, just something you build. Took me a while to trust my instincts but it gets easier.

We can train our eyes looking for the specific chart patterns and once we are able to see them we can also trade them successfully making profits out of the industry.

I really believe market intuition is something you develop, not just have. It comes from countless hours watching the market, analyzing, and learning from experience, letting your brain pick up subtle cues. It's more about dedicated practice than raw talent.

I don't think that anyone could be naturally intuitive when it comes to trading, or maybe I haven't seen!
