No, you don’t strictly need a teacher to succeed in Forex. Many traders are self-taught using books, courses, and practice. However, a mentor can speed up learning, reduce mistakes, and provide guidance. Ultimately, success depends on discipline, risk management, experience, and continuous self-education rather than formal instruction.

Wherever a teacher is, they are merely guides in learning. Success is not determined by the teacher, but by the individual. Even if someone possesses knowledge but is unable to implement it in the field, it's like a tree with abundant leaves but no fruit. No one can benefit from it.

Honestly, I don’t think you need a teacher, but it depends how you learn. I tried going solo for my first year—watched YouTube, read forums, blew a small account. Eventually, I found a mentor who wasn’t selling a course, just someone a few years ahead. That helped me more than any ebook. A good teacher can save you time and bad habits, but a bad one will just take your money. You can absolutely learn on your own if you’re disciplined. Just don’t expect to skip the screen time. No shortcut for experience.

Teacher?! NO. but having a trading mentor is really helpful. One that will guide you in the sea of resources and strategies and indicators and all that stuff.

finding a mentor is cool if u get lucky, but at the end of the day, you're the one who has to get beaten up by the market before any real discipline sticks. i spent years banging my head against the wall to figure out how to survive, but it’s the only real education. the market’s the coldest teacher u’ll ever have, and there’s no substitute for the lessons u pay for with your own skin in the game.

Demo teaches you mechanics. Live teaches you psychology. Big difference however it is really hard finding a real mentor and if you find some then keep in mind they does not come for free like the demo accounts.

I see most say no, but in fact, having a mentor would make the learning curve much easier. The thing is that it’s hard to find a mentor

the reason yahoo finance's numbers never match up w/ indicator feeds usually comes down to basic broker feed discrepancies, server timezones, and whether they're actually syncing to standard ny close. even a tiny 5-min offset in how high/low ticks get sampled will cascade right down through the whole pivot math and throw off your r/s levels. honestly whether ur messing w/ standard, camarilla, or demark pivots, if your base ohlc fetch times aren't aligned to the exact same candle close, data scattering is basically just built into the game. try reverse-engineering your platform's server time against the math yourself and the missing pieces usually sort themselves out pretty quick.

You can learn forex without a teacher. Some traders prefer studying and practicing on their own, while others find guidance helpful. A mentor can explain things and point out mistakes, but you still have to build your own experience. Patience, discipline, and good risk control matter more than having a teacher.
