Volume Between Vertical Lines Indicator for MT4/MT5/cTrader

Volume Between Vertical Lines is an easy-to-use MetaTrader/cTrader indicator that calculates the sum of volumes (tick or real) between two vertical lines on your chart and display that sum near one of the lines. This indicator is available for MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and cTrader.

Input parameters

The indicator offers a several input parameters to control the indicator and to customize its looks. Most of the parameters are very straightforward. Those that require some additional explanation are described below:

  • Volume type: you can select either tick volume or real volume. This option is available only in MT5.
  • Include volume on bars where lines stand? if true, the indicator will add volume found on the bars where the lines are to the total sum.

Example and usage

The example shows the total tick volume between October 8 and November 6, 2025, for the EUR/GBP daily chart.

The main use case for measuring total tick volume is to compare the total volume in a trend with the volume in previous trends. Although this won't give you a direct trading signal, it can be used to measure the general strength of the trend and its potential to continue.

If you want to use an MT5 version of the indicator presented here, you would need to open an account with a broker that offers MetaTrader 5. If you are with a cTrader broker, then you would need to download the cTrader version of the indicator above.
