USD rose against everything except JPY this September. One could say that it even rose against JPY, but that growth was very small. All because of the troubles in Europe and reluctance of the Federal Reserve to pour in liquidity into the markets.

And why do you ask?

I read a few articles on the net but was doubtful of what I have observed so I just wanted to ensure that my assumptions are right.

overview of what happened in the market during sept?

what were the main reasons in sept for the increase and decrease for each of the pairs: USD/EURO / USD/CHF USD/ GBP USD/JPY

USD/ EURO rose because of the Euro zone debt crisis, right? but what else?

USD/ CHF rose due to the SNB intervention to weaken the CHF- why though? and what else caused this?

USD/ GBP rose against the pound, but why?

USD/JPY rose because of the BOJ intervention to lower the JPY rate, right?

I am lost

USD/ EURO rose because of the Euro zone debt crisis, right? but what else?

And because the global risk-aversion. Investors preferred USD and JPY to other currencies.

USD/ CHF rose due to the SNB intervention to weaken the CHF- why though? and what else caused this?

Because SNB has been trying to stem the fast appreciation of the franc for a long time. Other methods failed, so they've set a minimum level for the euro against the franc. USD/CHF rose not only because of the SNB's action, but also because this action tied franc to euro, which fell against USD in September.

USD/ GBP rose against the pound, but why?

Because pound is considered a less safe currency than the USD. And UK have their own economic problems.

USD/JPY rose because of the BOJ intervention to lower the JPY rate, right?

USD/JPY has barely risen. As far as I know BoJ didn't intervene in September.

Aha and what about the main reasons for the drops in the currencies??
Also, was the snb the only interventor? And which was the weakest the euro or the chf? And why?

It seems to me, I've already answered these questions... Anyway:

Aha and what about the main reasons for the drops in the currencies??

Risk-aversion spurred by the possible Greece default and lack of QE3 by Fed.

Also, was the snb the only interventor? And which was the weakest the euro or the chf? And why?

Among the major banks - yes. CHF, because it was weakened by SNB against the EUR.
