Hey traders,

Quick question when do you usually trade forex, and why?
I’ve seen so many new traders ignore market hours completely, but it honestly makes a huge difference in volatility, spreads, and opportunities.

Here’s a quick breakdown for those still figuring it out:

Sydney Session – Kicks off the week, but pretty slow.
Tokyo Session – Good for JPY pairs, but still calmer than others.
London Session – One of the most active sessions, lots of volume.
New York Session – Pairs with USD get wild here.
London–New York Overlap – This is where the real action happens!

Personally, I prefer the London–New York overlap. The volatility and liquidity are perfect for price action setups. But I’m curious…

1. What’s your favorite session to trade and why?
2. Do you adjust your strategy depending on the time of day?

1. What’s your favorite session to trade and why?
The monthly one. I don't have to worry about a few pips on the spread or a few pips on slippage, about news announcement volatility or the end-of-the-day lack of liquidity. I just have to make sure my long-term forecast is valid.
2. Do you adjust your strategy depending on the time of day?
Normally, no.

I better say that the New York opening till lunch can be enough to make some money provided we know what we are doing in these market.

I avoided the Sydney session the most, during this time has slow movement and spread higher due to lower liquidity

my favorites are the sydney and tokyo........ 5pm for me...... world is winding down..... the movement is slow and calm as you say...... i see that as less risk in capsizing......

my least favorite is the new york session...... that's a rough and tough crowd...... lot of blackeyes.....

had a blackeye once...... once was enough..........h

I usually trade during the London–New York overlap too. That’s when the market actually moves and you can actually find setups that make sense. The quieter sessions can be a drag so I mostly stick to the busy times.
