The EUR/USD pair rose by 0.42%, closing the week at 1.1821. The GBP/USD pair increased by 0.29%, closing the week at 1.3014 exchange rate. Recent speculation that the United Kingdom could become a tax haven after Brexit has been addressed. Philip Hammond, UK Finance Minister recently commented that after the UK officially withdraws from the European Union, taxes will not be lowered too significantly. Mr. Hammond noted the British Government's intent to remain competitive in the international market, which includes raising taxes within the norm of the rest of Europe. Gold went up by 0.30%, as of last week's market close, closing at $1,294. Crude Oil rose by 0.47%, closing at $48.82 a barrel.
The Dow Jones ended the week up by a slight 0.07%, closing at a value of 21,858.32. The S&P 500 rose by 0.13%, closing at a value of 2,441.32. And lastly, the NASDAQ increased by 0.64%, ending the week at a value point of 6,256.56.
