Etoro is a big Scam. Please Stay Away From Etoro . Beaware of Etoro... All they want is to trap a prey and then they steal your money from your account very smartly. On 12th July, there was a cyber attack on the platform, I don't know is it true or not, But I lost $1900 just because of etoro platform. I talked to the representative Adams and he told me that I will be compensated for my loss only. He asked me to open the Ticket. Please check my whole conversation here. This is so frustrating as I trade on a daily basis. I talked to a customer service that your platform is down and I wanted to close this trade, as i don't want to hit stop loss, they said that it will be compensated. I logged in via my mobile and tried to change my stop loss, it said that it has been accepted. Your platform froze at that time and now i checked it and my stop loss was 1.5398 which i never set. My stop loss was at 1.5452 and i set it to 1.5458. This is not fair at all. After that when i saw that my stop loss is at 1.5385, i was shocked. I don't accept this compensation in any case. I am so much worried now. How can you make me suffer due to error in your platform. Please revise the whole case asap. I never closed my position and it closed automatically when i was in the position of recovering my losses. I never adjusted the stop loss that it hit. First of all your platform didn't hit my stop loss as it was froze, after that it took all my money from my account, and after that my stop loss was set at 1.5384 and then suddenly it said that it has stopped due to stop loss at 1.5417 when i was recovering my loss. I need full compensation of this loss.

Dear Admin!

I don't remember time exactly, but i talked to the Customer representative at that time, when i was unable to access the cashier part, they said there is some technical problem or what..I told them that i wasn't able to fund my account due to this problem and i wanted to increase the stop loss...

After that loss i was still trying to fund my account but it was still not working and i opened a ticket to CR and we talked about it... I am fed up of explaining my position again and again. Whatever etoro did to me was so bad and i trade on other platforms that work under Cyprus Securities Exchange Commission , but i have never faced such an issue with any other broker in my life... I am disappointed.

This is my last email in this regard, as i know you will never compensate my loss still after admitting that there was an error in the platform.

As you said, the stoploss was never edited and the problem was that it did not close at the chosen stoploss rate.

We acknowledge that this was an error, and that is why we offer to compensate you for the losses beyond your stoploss. Your position would have suffered a loss of $1000 if there had not been a technical problem.

Therefore the compensation amount is for the extra $140 that were lost due to the problem.

I was not able to change my stop loss or either was not unable to close my position due to your platform and you are saying that it is my fault... I never closed that position, then who closed that position? your platform not me... When i was recovering my losses, your platform closed my trade. First it never hit the stoploss, according to your platform my stoploss was set at 1.5384 and it stopped at 1.5427 why?, i never closed it and then why your platform closed it all of the sudden. At that time i was talking to CR about this matter that my stop loss never hit and it took my funds in the account, i was talking to him, and my position was closed suddenly, and I told them that now my position is closed and i never closed it....

I am really fed up now... You are admitting your mistake and still not compensating my losses... I don't trade to give my all money to brokers..,Sorry...

I am so much frustrated now.

As for the loss of your money, I am sorry to hear that the CopyTrader did not work to your advantage. The market will unfortunatelly always retain an aspect of risk, so even if you are copying the best performing traders on the network, you can still suffer losses, there is just no way around it. Copying the best traders only minimizes your risk but can never eliminate it completely. The best traders in the world absorb losses as they trade and sudden turnarounds in market trends often make it so many traders see their trades go south at the same time. However, I do want to point out that according to studies we've commissioned, our traders' average performance has gone up by over 15% since CopyTrader was launched. That may not seem like much, but as an average for a network counting almost 2,000,000 traders, that is a gigantic improvement. Again, it is really a shame that you found yourself on the bottom end of that statistic.

don't step into this. I won some money in the beginning, however ended up loosing about 2k euro's by only "copying" the best traders. It too nice to be true. Beside this at this moment they refuse to cancel my account, so when you sign up you can't close your account anymore. Here a copy of my emails:

I signed up only knowing that eToro is regulated by ASIC, but without reading all the negative reviews. When I read all these I got nervous, but carried on anyway. I initially opened a demo account and once comfortable I made an initial deposit. I got 10% bonus for that.

Traded live for a week and made some profit, and decided to withdraw funds. I requested it on Friday night here in AU and I got notification of the payment from Paypal Tuesday night. Pretty good. Just make sure you provide them the right documents - clear color copies - and your request should be processed with no problems. I find the withdrawal fee a bit expensive though, so my plan is to withdraw money only when it reaches the bracket that will cost me the lowest fee. Still $25 is kind of steep.

This proves to me that eToro is not a scam like others think. Sure I lose money in trades, but it's not because of eToro closing my positions early or disconnecting me when I'm about to take profit. I think the issue with people getting disconnected is their internet connection. I have the crappiest kind of internet here in AU (Vodafone mobile broadband) and don't experience that.

The only weird thing is that I get an email from IC Markets (the registered company here in Australia?) about doing a Client Suitability Questionnaire and if I didn't score a minimum of 8/10, my account will be blocked. This is after I have already deposited funds, traded, and requested a withdrawal of my profits. I was advised that this is an ASIC requirement that commenced April 2012. I "passed" the questionnaire, so no issues. My only comment is that if this is going to be the case for Australian traders then it would be good if eToro doesn't allow them to deposit any funds before this whole client screening is performed. I can just imagine the stress I would have experienced if I didn't pass. There is nothing in eToro's website about this. They should make this clear upfront before anyone, particularly in Australia, decides to use their live trading service.

eToro works for me. To each their own I guess.

Laura, thank you for taking the time to adress my posting, but please understand that expecting your users to shut down any other application that uses bandwidth just so they can avoid eToro's connection problems is an admission that the Etoro bandwidth is the problem.

I’d like to take the time to answer some of your posts.

First, regarding disconnect problems, we are aware that a small percentage of our traders were having these problems in the past, but this issue has been fixed in the latest recently released version of the eToro WebTrader. Incidentally, in response to Michel from Manila, the disconnect problems may have been caused by the fact that you were running another trading software alongside eToro, which was taking up part of your bandwidth.

Secondly, in response to Perry Johnson, I took a look at your eToro account and I can see that your account was blocked because you supplied us with fraudulent documents. If you fail to supply us with the standard documentation required by every single company in the industry, we have no choice but to consider your account as fraud and to close it immediately. Furthermore, your initial deposit was refunded.

With regards to the issue raised by Thomas from the Czech Republic, I am extremely sorry that you feel that you didn’t receive adequate support from our team and your personal account manager. I will make sure that the people responsible for your care will be held responsible. Howeve, I looked up your case and I saw that although your technical complaint was not approved you were still compensated for the amount you lost due to the alleged technical malfunction. If this is not so, please contact me at social@etoro.com with any further details so we can bring this matter to a close.

Finally, regarding the comments made by Fox from the Philippines, again I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the quality of our support, I will look into the areas that you mentioned and make the necessary improvements. I disagree with you about CopyTrader (obviously  ). First of all, even though you confer your money to another trader, you have full control of your trades, so you can close or change any position that doesn’t suit you. And of course you would choose a consistently profitable trader to copy, otherwise there really is no point. It gives many less experienced traders the opportunity to trade like the best among their peers, which is no small feat.

They are completely independent both of our company and of their copiers/followers. I'm not happy with their customer support. When I'm looking somewhere to invest in, very good customer support is always I will look for. When I receive an email from them after I asked a question, it will just be plain answers. I want them to make me feel safe and happy if I become their customer. I hope they add some feelings on their emails since I have already received warm responses from other forex brokers.

In my opinion I don't like the copy trader because it is like you put your money on them to invest and everything after that will depend on the trader you chose. It's like betting. It is still always better to learn trading yourself.

Copy trader is still good for those who just want to invest.

As a trader I can't imagine if a Guru is being pressured by the Copiers if there was a bad trade, I don't know how much you can earn from etoro's Guru program but I am absolutely interested. I hope the Gurus aren't pressured and they feel comfortable trading.

I have an issue with retail fx / etoro.com. One of my trades was closed due to system error in August 2011. I contacted etoro support and my problem was saved in etoro CRM system with Case ID 28, 106. I asked them to investigate what happened with my trade and to compensate me for the loss. So far my problem hasn't been resolved. The problem is in communication with etoro. I have an account manager, who is supposed to be my point of contact at etoro. However, my account manager does no reply to my emails, nor is it possible to reach him by phone. I sent him several reminders about my case and tried to call him many times. As I couldn't reach my account manager, later I contected eToro live support. They promised to investigate my case and they insisted my account manager would contact me back. I contacted eToro support regarding this 4 or 5 times and I always got the same answer. But no one contacted me back from etoro. I also sent a complaint to info@retailfx.com several weeks ago, but it also stayed unreplied. Etoro platform is easy to use, but once you get into trouble, you are left alone.

I like his trading platform. Very easy for understanding. But I must to say this company is fully scam. I deposited 1000 EUR and made 1300 EUR on my account. After that they blocked my account. I spoke with livesupport and with manager of my account and they can not say me nothing for 7 days. Just wait. So be patient with this company.

Etoro has disconnect problems that has never been fixed in all the time I have been with them.

etoro invariably blaimes it on the user's connection but it's hard to accept such an explanation

when at the exact same time, I can maintain a problem free connection to my Go Markets account.

Most notable, the error mostly appears when trying to access the login page that has only two text boxes,

one for the user name and the other the password. If your server needs monster bandwith just for that

then it's obvious that something is seriously wrong with the etoro page. The more correct and likely

problem is that you simply have a server that is not up to the workload and haS been that way for months.

I had 2 negative posts against eToro in the past, based on wrong assumption, and its very common among small traders before they join any broker, and when you are paranoid every little thing makes you believe that your broker is trying to steal from you, due to stress of market uncertainty.

I email social@etoro.com and their manager called me on my phone for almost an hour and went through my concers and explained everything in detail and the even sent me all my trade history, which i went over trade by trade and i didnt find a single $ missing.

Now as i was complaining that eToro did not let me close a Gold trade, and after checking with other brokers i found out Gold can not be trade between 11-12GMT. And i think it was a coincidence both times, i was trying to close a trade around that time.

Now since eToro is getting more and more traders, which i think is because of its openbook and copy trader which makes it unique in forex biz, is making it difficult for eToro to keep up with new customers and old ones, so i think due to that reason, i wasn't able to get hold of live support.

Now after giving a good look at the rankings in openbook i realize that its different trader in the top 30 rankings every week and it can not be possible for eToro to hire that many guru's.

So i made a bad judgement and i am sorry for bashing eToro on a live forum. I did withdraw my balance and profit in the start of this month and i had no problem and it was just few misunderstandings which eToro manager cleared out and it is a quality of a good broker to challenge and solve clients problem on a live forum.

So after speaking to the manager, i have no problem now joining back eToro and i would love to have their service.

The things that made me comeback is their easy to use platform, and this is very important when market gets hectic and complicated platform with flashing red and blue lights leads you to wrong trades, etoro's platform keeps you calm.

And 2nd important thing is the copy trade and open book where you see what other traders are doing and 2nd, 3rd, 4th......opinion is very very important in this business, since no one can predict and forecast right everytime.
