Tickmill Adds Custom macOS MT4 Platform

July 15, 2015 (Last updated on August 2, 2019) by

Today, an offshore Forex broker Tickmill (a successor to Armada Markets) announced the launch of its custom MetaTrader 4 trading platform for macOS operating system. MetaTrader 4 is a popular FX platform, which is currently in use by more than 200 brokerage companies. Although it has been long in use by Mac users via such middleware options as Wine or Parallels, operating through a native app can be seen as a definite advantage, improving on both execution lag, stability, and other costs.

Tickmill introduces macOS MetaTrader 4

The macOS version will be available free of cost to all clients of Tickmill and will offer functionality and features on par with the normal desktop version of MetaTrader for Windows. One notable exception being inability to use custom expert advisors and indicators that require DLL imports. However, this lack is compensated by additional security gained from avoiding malicious DLL usage, which is possible in Windows systems. Unsuspecting traders could be targets of spyware and other malware operated by hackers under the guise of custom MT4 scripts.

Other brokers that have implemented custom versions of MT4 for macOS users are XM and AvaTrade.
