My Forex Forecast for 2012

December 31st, 2011

First, I’d like to wish everyone a happy New Year. Today is December 31st and the trading of the year 2011 has already ended, so it’s time to wish successful trading to all Forex traders in the next year.

My forecasts for 2011 were a complete failure. Mainly due to the worsening of the eurozone debt …

Book Review: Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader (Peter L. Brandt)

December 30th, 2011

Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader by Peter L. BrandtI’ve been reading very positive reviews of Peter Brandt’s book on Amazon for some time and, recently, I’ve decided to read the book myself to see if it’s really that good. Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader: Lessons from 21 Weeks of Real Trading turned out to be a rather …

EUR/USD Drops, US Jobless Claims Climbs

December 29th, 2011

EUR/USD was falling today as Italy sold less debt than the maximum target at the auction and yield rose. The last US reports this year were good with the exception of unemployment claims that climbed last week. Currently, EUR/USD goes higher, erasing much of its losses.

Initial jobless claims

Scaling In — a Good Alternative to Single Entry in Forex?

December 29th, 2011

Almost a month ago I’ve discussed a technique called “partial profit taking” and its viability in Forex. Another name for this technique is “scaling out” as it allows a trader to scale the exit from his or her position. Today, I’d like to talk about “scaling in” — a technique that’s …

EUR/USD Hangs Above Opening

December 27th, 2011

EUR/USD was rising today, stalled, then sharply dropped, and currently trades sideways, remaining above the opening level. The gains aren’t big, though. The report about the US housing market wasn’t good, but manufacturing and consumer sentiment showed signs of improvement.

Seasonally adjusted S&P/Case-Shiller home price index fell …

RTATC2011 — Day 11 — The End

December 24th, 2011

ATC2011 contest has finally ended yesterday. Now it’s time to contemplate the results. I must say, it was a big disappointment to me. I haven’t expected my expert advisor to win, but I’ve really hoped for it to end up in profit. In the end, the account balance was at $6,188.84 — down from $10,000 initial …

Durable Goods Orders Grow, EUR/USD Falls

December 23rd, 2011

EUR/USD erased its previous gains today as the data from the United States continued to be positive, while the future of the European Union is still uncertain. Durable goods orders showed particularly good growth, while the housing market continued to improve. Income and expenditures of the US citizens were smaller that expected, …

EUR/USD Drops on Positive Developments in USA

December 22nd, 2011

EUR/USD spiked upwardly today, but retreated as the positive fundamental reports from the United States increased attractiveness of the dollar. The decreasing unemployment claims and the improving consumer sentiment confirm that the US economy recovers. The leading indicators were also positive and the economic growth accelerated, even though with slower pace than …
